tesco credit card question

Hello

Looking to get a credit card in mine and my partners name to buy furniture for new house we are buying. Have looked and best for purchases is 12 months with Tesco. I already have a tesco card that is out of its interest free period. Would me and my partner be able to reapply in both names ang get the interest free or would we be ineligable owing to my already having ones.

Thanks

I think your partner could get one but don't think you will be able to extend your interest free period.

I have had mine for about 18 months and clear it every month. Would it be a good idea to cancel it and get a new one in a couple of months?

There will be no guarantee that you will get 0% interest free if you cancel and rejoin in a few months, in any case Tesco may withdraw the offer no one knows. Sorry but think you need to find out more from Tesco themselves or go to another 0% interest free card. I can't see Tesco being very keen to extend the offer to you but then again I don't know . Good luck!

    Haras Nosirrah,

Usually after cancelling a card, many companies force you to wait before being able to reapply for another. Some (e.g. Capital One) don't, but these are the exception. Usually, an application is automatically rejected if you have cancelled another credit card from the same company within the previous six months. This is not guaranteed in Tesco's case, but it's worth bearing in mind.

The best way at the moment would be for your partner to apply and then have you added as second card holder - you get two cards but all the debt will be only in his name so you need to make sure he is happy with that.

As Martinslovechild says - Most companies and I believe that is also Tesco's case make you wait for at least 6 mths before you can apply for their card again.
I usually have 1 card for 0%, the moment it's out cancel it and apply for different company's one and by the time that offer runs out I am able to apply for the old card again IF they have promotion on.
