USwitch - Utility Comparison Query????

Dual Fuel energyplus Argos Nil Service Charge from Southern Electric

Unit prices

Gas 4.526p per kWh 3.402p per kWh above 4572 kWh p.a
Electricity 17.33p per kWh 12.66p per kWh above 900 kWh p.a
All prices shown are inclusive of V.A.T. at 5%

Went on USwitch to look for a cheaper supplier and they show:-
Save £219.71 ..... with Southern Electric Dual Fuel Go Direct 2 Plan!!!!

When I compare the current and proposed Plan details, Uswitch shows the rates for the proposed Plan as:-

.................... identical to the Plan I'm already on, but Uswitch reckon I can save £219.71 . How?????????

I think you may find the discounts are greater on the Go direct 2 tariffs than on the Energy plus argos tariff. In fact do you get any discount on your current tariff as I see part of the plan is to give you a 10% discount on purchases from Argos.
The discounts are taken into account when uswitch works out the best deals.

Proof if proof needed that comparing unit rates alone is useless..

For my region..

Gas customers paying by direct debit will receive a discount of 19.5% off the unit rates.

Electricity customers paying by direct debit will receive a discount of 20.7% off the unit rates.
