Fair enough - I see your point. But if you do not insulate the pipes and you do insulate the boiler in a box, you run the risk of the boiler not firing up because it is insulated, and your pipes freezing.

Maybe the answer is to do both.

Yes, I agree if the insulation box is build then insulate the pipes.

Hi our new boiler that we got in November of last year also has the frost control on it and I have heard it the odd time late on or in the middle of the night coming on for 5 mins, we have a 3 bedroom semi detached house and are on Websaver 1 with BG and our bills for 3 months from October 6th till 27th January were £136 for Gas and £185 for electricity and we had our heating on alot over the cold spell but the boiler is only up have way for heating and on eco for the water, this is the way the engineer that fitted ours told us to keep it. We also have a gadget in the livingroom that if it says it's 20degrees but we feel it's cold we press the button to put the heating up to 21degrees and when it gets to that it switches the heating off. We set our heating for about 8 hours a day but with the gadget if the heating is supposed to be on for four hours but the room temperature gets to 21 degrees before then the gadget automatically switches the boiler off, well worth the small extra bit it cost to get it as our gas bills are down on this time last year. Hope that makes sense

    Gas £167
    elec £108

    :)

You simply cannot have heating on all day....put some clothes on and check your insulation.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
