Ive just booked to go to Dubai

I am soooooo excited.

I have just booked 5 nights at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort in Dubai staying in a CLUB SEA VIEW room for £680 for 3 people.

I think I did OK . I got good flights as well just under £700 for all of us with Virgin.

The down side is that it is August which I know will be really really hot, but being club all the non alcoholic drinks will be free:T in the day and we get free sarnies and cake in the afternoon.

I would love any advice from anyone who has stayed at this hotel already. I did read through all of the previous Dubai threads and there are a few mentions of this hotel, but none in any detail.

See this post from an earlier thread on hotels in Dubai. Mr & Mrs Nile have stayed in this hotel............in August, when the heat was intense. We were there in August 2004 and the temperature was 42 degC.

It really is a like walking out of a fridge and straight into a sauna, as you leave the hotel and go outdoors. We decided to leave a swim in the sea until just before dusk...........so that it would be a little bit cooler outside.

The sea temperature was like a very warm bath...........and the white sandy beach was very nice.

The hotel is a very good 4 star standard. The staff are very customer focused and attentive. The only bug bear is that the flight gets you to Dubai early in the morning but they won't let you have your room until 2pm. They offer you a welcome drink while you're waiting.

The hotel has a complimentary shuttle bus which takes you to the Burjuman Centre, Gold Souq or city centre shopping mall etc. The bus is a bit cramped and the bus air conditioning leaves a lot to be desired...........but you can't complain when it's free.:rolleyes: Although the individual shops in the Gold Souq are air conditioned, once you step outside each shop you're back in the intense heat again.

I don't know if things have improved but Dubai was one massive building site when we were there. It's not a pretty sight with cranes and building works wherever you look.

Is that the Meridien with the beach bar? (There are 2 Meridiens next door to each other) Had a few beers in the beach bar one night. Very nice hotel.
Another nice one is Rooftop Terrace @ The One and Only Mirage.5 mins in a taxi.
