It is our first wedding anniversary on valentines day and I would like to get my husband a nice present or presents.

First anniversary is traditionally paper - you could get him tickets to something or get one of your wedding pictures printed and framed?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I gave my husband an expensive watch for our first anniversary - we weren't very rich at the time and I had saved secretly for ages so he was very surprised and excited.
Having said that, I think the most successful gift I gave him was a book with our photographs from the previous year printed in it. You can get them through places like Photobox and can choose photos, themes, captions etc. I plan to give him one every year so that when we're old and grey we can look through them and remember.

First anniversary is paper, so maybe a book or a journal?
I like these instead of conventional cards, I think they are just wonderful

For our 1st anniversary to go with the paper theme, I bought my DH concert tickets (it was for Bob Dylan-not my cup of tea but he was over the moon!). I also wrote a little poem describing what the surprise pressie was."That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0

it is paper so why dont you get him a front page of a newspaper from day you were married or a list of things that happened locally/worldwide day you were married and frame it:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

We ended up getting each other books (going with the paper theme) - our anniversary is very close to Christmas so we got bigger pressies for that.
However, I then checked on wikipedia and apparently per Pears encyclopedia in England the 1st anniversary is traditionally cotton, with paper 2nd (its paper then cotton in America).Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0
