Hiya,
Ok, well what happened is....
In August 09 I went 19p over my overdraft limit on account I rarely use. I transferred 20p in (yep pennies I know) but was charged something silly like 28p interest for the few days I was over my limit.
This resulted in £28.00 being taken from my account in September.
As I rarely use the account, I didn;t check it until November when I found out (yes I know, my own fault for not keeping track of the account) that £28.00 had been taken in charges for being over my limit in September, October and November, with a further £28.00 to be taken in December.
I contacted the bank and complained as even though it was my own fault that it spiralled (because I hadn't checked), I felt that over £100 of charges for the sake of 19p was rather ridiculous.
After numerous emails between myself and the bank, and sending letters to senioe management, they wrote to me this week to say they believed the charges were lawful and no further action, i.e. a refund, could be taken unless I wanted to take my case the the Ombudsman, which I had told the bank I intended on doing.
However, I have been online today and £104 has been refunded into my account.
Can the bank reclaim this from me, as it contradicts the letter they sent, and I havent recieved anything from them regarding the refunded amount. I daren;t touch it, even though I have bills to pay that this money would help with, as I am worried they may take it off me again.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance

I do want the account to remain open as I use it every now and again for months when I need to know exactly how much money I have, I put it into this account.0

As you don't know what the money is for, it could simply be an erroneous transaction.
You should contact the bank and notify them of the spurious credit.
Unless they advise to the contrary, the money is not yours and may be reclaimed."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Give the bank a call today or monday and ask them what the refund is in relation to so that you are certain that it was not made in error.0
