Recieved $ cheque from states

Hey guys. I have a quick question

My buyer sent me a cheque which I banked my cheque in at my local natwest branch and its a foreign cheque from America (in $'s)

Does anyone know how long it would take for the funds to clear and the cheque to be cashed

Also how much it will cost in me in charges incurred

Thanks in advance for your help:T

I need to know so I can determine when to send off the goods

dollar cheques will cost around £5-8 GBP in handling fees, PLUS commission depending on how large the cheque was

so, if they sent (say) $20, that is roughly £12 GBP, you'll only see around 4 GBP if you're lucky

as for clearing, they usually show within a week or so,

use https://www.auctionpix.co.uk to cash cheques in future, a LOT cheaper than banks

I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

My experience has been the same as yours. I paid in a cheque some years ago through a Barclays account and it showed as available but when I spoke to the bank they said it wasn't technically clear.

Cost me a bomb as well, but I was doing a favour for a relative and they picked up all the charges.

Internationally you should always ask for a money order so you can cash it instantly.
Then the fees are applied they're end!

But not from the states - international and money order is a contraction in terms in the US. If you sell to the US, you'll really have to use paypal.
