Argos Advice Please

Options
Afternoon all,

Reserved 3 items from Argos last night Curtains at £6.99 and 2 x Duvets £7.99 , in my lunch break today i went to collect and saw the prices were double of what i reserved them at. Went to collect at the machine and the Curtains were £14,99 Anyways spoke to somebody who told me that they had not been £6.99 ever and they were in fact £14.99. So i left without my duvets or curtains. Came home checked emails, and the reservation email says they are £6.99 went back to the web page and still advertised at £6.99!!! I have tried and tried to ring without any answer, i have no printer to prove what it says! And i'm a wee bit !!!!ed off about my wasted journey! Any ideas of what i can do? Shall i just buy them and write a request for a refund?

Thanks Lauren

  • The official company policy is the price you pay is the price in store on collection, But with proof that you reserved them at the lower price most stores will sell at the lower price as a gesture of goodwill. Without a printer this could be difficult to prove. Do you know anyone who can print it off for you? Or you could go to your local library and print it off there. Another idea is to ask the store to bring the item up on the computer in store (they can do this before they go fobbing you off) and they will see the price advertised.
I must stress though, they are NOT obliged to sell at the price on the internet, they can only reduce it on the till system as a gesture of goodwill.
    Good luck!

Alternatively you could refer the matter to the advertising standards authority. If Argos are the recipients of many such complaints they may well make more effort to get it right in future. However it won't solve your immediate issue.

If you point out to them that it's still showing at the lower price on the website then they will usually sell it for that price at Argos. They can look at the website themselves instore.

    Hello Lolly.

Same thing happened to me a long time ago,i had seen on there website a Cordless phone it was advertised at £39.99,when i got to the store and went up with my reservation number the assistant processed at and said that will be £59.99...

I explained that i had reserved the phone and had an email to stating that it was £39.99,she told me,and showed me the tc's and it clearly stated that the price you pay is the instore price.

I left without the phone,a few weeks later i got a better one in a sale with answer machine at a cheaper price.
