I come from Reading berkshire and I am hoping to buy a house and you quite often find 2/3 bedroom houses in need of a bit of tlc for 130kOfficial DFW Nerd number 227
Proud to be dealing with my debts!!!!0 -
Sugarpants...I have posted today and several people have done the same in past posts to you that you could borrow no more than 80-90k on your income...16yrs ago I bought a studio apartment in Reading (Tilehurst) and I paid 52k then....You are being totally unrealistic to think any lender will lend you anymore than we have all been quoting0

Is there any reason DH can't get another job in another part of the country? If you have a joint income of £28K that would comfortably buy you a three bedroom house in many northern cities. Your son is seven, he doesn't understand the finer details of mortgages and personal finance and will have forgotten inside a year.

Yeah and if need of "tlc" at that price, they probably aren't mortgageable...ie no lender would lend until you did the work, which means you do a cash purchase of 130k....
I have just looked on Parkers website and the cheapiest 3 bed is 170k if you're prepared to live in whitley!0 -

A joint salary of £28K with DH working 45 hr week suggests that he is not in a well paid job. There is no way you can currently afford to buy anything remotely approaching your needs in SE Eng. Is it possible for him to look for a better paid job, perhaps in a cheaper area.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
