Be a bit careful here, older boilers may have asbestos in them, you may find you would have to pay someone instead :mad:
I took the easy route & let the same people who fitted my new boiler take the old one, also it was very heavy & no chance of me moving the darn thingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
i believe you can pay your council a nominal fee for this0

Oh well, so long as it doesn't end up in a landfill.0

get it to a scrap yard mate . 1 boiler = cash in your pocket , not the travellers !
copper is about £2.50 per kilo at the moment.we all have bad days , some more than others ..................0 -
So,
30kg = £75
40kg=£100
Nice one.:beer:
Can I do the same with washing machines?
The fridge is tricky, because it might have green house gases.0 -
Fridge you wont get nowt for not because its greenhouse gasses but the gasses in it damage the ozone layer. even the insualtion they use in them has. It need to be degassed. I suspect the washingmachine will have less cooper in it and wont be as much value most of the weight o your washing machine will be the concrete weight blocks inside it.0

Is that really what you would get for an old boiler?? Quite surprising really. Have seen 'the tat' man everytime I go to a friends house. Wonder how much they make - may change my job!!0

Only a small proportion of a boiler is copper, and that has to be separated out from all the other components. An immersion hot water tank is much more valuable in this respect, as it's a higher proportion of copper (plus plenty of limescale usually).No free lunch, and no free laptop0
