npower or Eon

I am a new rentee with my partner and this is the first time we have ever had to pay for elec or gas.
We are in a new build, 2 bed house with gas central heating with combi boiler and gas hob electric oven.
We initially rang npower to supply or elec and gas as the letting agent told us no company was responsible, but we have now found out eon is and we have to wait for our first 1/4 bill to arrive before switching to npower.

Who shall we pick, should we stay with eon or go ahead with the change to npower?

Peoples opinions and answers all welcome.

Thank you

(I beleive we are just on normall pay 1/4 tarriffs)

  • Hi I'm with Eon and it's the first company I have been with with no problems. When I had high bills last year they helped me work out a repay plan that was managable and keep on top of things with online billing, I think it all depends on who you get through when you call but the last girl helped me work out the best tarrif and told me lots of hints to keep ontop of things. I was with Npower in a previous flat, there had been a problem with it being a nbuild and mix up on flat numbers but they kept telling me they did not supply my gas (in the end on turned on the hob and put it next to the phone and said yes you do), they didn't take that line 6 monyths later when they sent me a bill, and I will never go back to British Gas they had me in tears many times with my current property when heavily pregnant we bouight and it was on credit meters from former tennats took best part of a year to sort and ended up with technicians coming round to install emergency funds on it (£5 a time) to get heat in the house - the pre pay cards they sent never worked.

Good luck - its rubbish having to pay for the unsexy things like gas!
  • yes the tesco thing is a winner too - we convert them into deal tokens and buy lots of christmas presents with - and I don't even shop at tecos'
