Plastering Hall, Ceiling and Landing Walls

Hi all,

Have you any idea how much this would cost to have the hall walls, ceilings, stairs and landing plastered. I realise it's hard with no measurements and I am rubbish at DIY but I can say that the hall and landing are tiny, but the stairs has very big walls and a high ceiling. I am hoping that someone will be able to give a rough estimate even with these poor measurements! :-)

The landing ceiling and walls are in very bad condition and may need plasterboard pinned on.

Any rough estimates of a price that would include labour and materials? I want it all plastered and some pipes in the hall boxed in.

My friend had two quotes for hers last year and one was for £400 and one was for £500.

I live in Wales.

Thanks in advance,

K

Hi, difficult to say really. Can you upload some pics? might be able to help from there.
Also is your friends house similar/same size as yours? If so £400-£500 sounds cheap to me.

The problem with trying to give people advice on things like this is that there are so many variations to consider. A plasterer would really need to see the job 1st. eg you say the walls might need reboarding - in my experience a lot of clients have rung me saying some walls need overboarding or rerendering when in fact all they needed was skimming (Looks can be deceptive and to someone who is not a plasterer it may look awfull, whereras to a plasterer it may not) Crikey dont know what to write next because as I say, there could be loads of issues or hardly any.......
My advice would be to get 3 quotes from local plasterers (recomended if possible) then take it from there.
    Hope this helps

    Hi
As per Plasterers reply, its almost impossible to say without seeing the job due to the amount of variables. I will say that £400 to £500 does sound very cheap for the work you have described. Get a few quotes first as already suggested.

    Where in Wales are you?

Hi, I am not able to put photos on here unfortunately. Yeah, I did think when I was posting originally that my description was a bit vague!

Okay so I could expect to pay over £500. Yeah, I did also think £400 - £500 was quite cheap. I had a large bedroom plastered including ceilings, walls and a cupboard about 2 years ago and that was £260. But this looks a lot trickier :-) That was a perfect job - I was very impressed!

I will get a few quotes then, I am hoping the plasterer who did the bedroom can give me a cheap quote as like I said he did a brilliant job on the bedroom.

    I live in Newport, Wales.

    Thanks for the replies.
