Cold radiator..

Hi,

I live in a 3 bedroom house and have a system of 7 radiators throughout the house. 6 of the radiators are touchable/hot but one of the radiators is cold.

I have bled all radiators and still the problem persists. l have to bled the radiators every week and 2 radiators upstairs are the ones with air in them.I don't know if this matters, but the radiator that is cold is downstairs in the dining room l only have one more downstairs in the hallway and that is warm/hot. The boiler is a Baxi solo 3 pfl 40 and the pump is in the airing cupboard with the c/heating tank in the loft.

Any suggestions would be great as the house is freezing

You most likely have an airlock in the pipes to the cold rad. Make sure that the valves at each end of the cold rad are fully open. Turn off 5 of the other rads (note valve settings). Turn on CH, this should shift airlock. If this does not work, turn off rad 6 and open one of the others. If this does not work, turn off all rads except the cold one.
If the pipes to downstairs are dropped from the loft, there is sometimes a bleed point in the loft. When you bleed rads, this shoud be done with CH off. Is there inhibitor in the CH system?
  • l will try what you have said, l do not know if there is any inhibitor in the system or last time it was flushed as maybe that could be the problem:confused: someone said to me you have a vent pipe in the loft and this could cause air in the system as l'm bleeding the rads every week. How would a vent pipe cause this, and if this could be a problem how can l solve it..
