Kevichos Debt Diary

After having a bit of a bad month (well disastrous by my terms) and being the attention seeking hussie that I am ive decided in a bid to improve my resolve again and also shame myself publically that id do a diary.

Will it be any more interesting than anyone elses? Probably (not), will it be full of helpful advice and tips, definately (not), will it full of me moaning about work, finances, people and all the other things us DFW folk go on about, Of course.

I thought id kick it off with a quick recap of recent events.

June 30th

After saving up for 5 of the 6 months of having a 0% BT offer, i decided to kill off the egg card thanks to finally have enough money to pay it off.

Id probably gained around 10 pounds interest all together over the months i had saved.

I could have left the money in the bank for another month, but the poll I did saw the end of that.

So 1900 came out of the bank in total (200DD and 1700 OOP - one off payment)to go with the 270 payment for my loan.

I think I have around 400 in the bank, which i know will be less now as today i went to Rotherham and bought all 4 of my weekly savers for the month

That will save me prob 3+ hours as it takes me that long to catch a bus and back.

Also this month I have 100 for going out, so i have set myself a target of 2 nights out a week with a tenner (thursday pub quiz - sunday pub quiz)

I know this month I will go overdrawn by around 80 pound as well, however I should be getting 360 (maybe 140 more on top) quid soon so this wont happen

I had a lot of luck last month

My first bit of luck was winning a competition here, which to be honest I was shocked!
I thought My entry was rubbish lol

Still not to complain, as I now have a bottle of bubbly in the fridge, ready for a special occasion, which was supposed to be a bbq which for some reason never happened.

Also I won 50 pounds on the higher/lower card game at the pub (1 pound entry) and I bought everyone on my table a drink

They always buy me one so its only right, plus it was a really fun night and I felt really good.

If i ever need motivation then thinking about that will give it me, best feeling in the world having the money to buy a round, even if it was free money

Also, again at the pub, we won the general knowledge quiz so we each got a beer token.

I also had a free night :D

Anyways to the bad side of june

Sandwich/dinner making become very lapse, probably a good chunk of my overspending went on dinners, this seemed to be towards the end of the month, when ive been quite tired, as ive done a lot of extra work and also kept up my two nights a week, with the odd pint in sheffield after my extra work.

This month I dont want to concentrate on money, I have my budget which I will stick to, but I want to get off the stress part, and get some more sleep and also get back on track with my tapes, revision and my other projects.

I finally finished Carnegie last night so I started on Bach which ill put on at some point today.

Also because I kept my mp3 phone I will be transferring some to listen to on the bus, usurping lordi :)

Finally as a little fun/practice thing ive signed up for the halifax sharebuilder account and will be investing 20 a month into that and see how it goes.

Right im off to make some dinner and continue planning world domination

to be continued....

Ok, back by popular demand, part 2, July/August etc

Gonna be a bit hard to recall everything thats happened as the last couple of months have been a bit of a blur, so ill just chew the fat in general.

    First off, Debt

At the moment my loan is under 4k, which I pay 270pm towards, leaving me with around 1k a month to play with, which doesnt account for my usual bills, food etc.

I have no cards apart from Egg now, who I emailed this morning to make my 3rd attempt to get the card closed.
As they're inability to take the approriate action which is having a detrimental effect on my credit rating, any more letters will result in standard charges being applied to there account ;)

Other accounts are in reasonable shape so its just a case of saving now.
Am going to leave the loan running as there isnt really any benefits to me paying it off, so will keep some money aside for that.

My philosophy at the moment is that i have that taken care of regardless, i spend no more time thinking or worrying about it, so i can concentrate my efforts on productive things :)

I have a few projects running at the moment, which are taking up a lot of time.

First my moneysaving website is starting to take shape, still lots to do on that, finally completed two sections so am aiming for it to be a definitive guide to facing debt and cutting it down.

Everybody who's seen it so far has been impressed.

2nd project is my 1st business, which I started saturday, and have been doing some slyly at work as well ;)
Thats taking up a lot of time, lots of research and documentation going on, luckily we web design skills are enough to free me up to be able to concentrate on my share of the work.

Also have invested a nice amount into it, so i didnt have to take out a loan, start small and think big, is the mindset of this little venture.

Also next week looks like I will have another project to add to the list, with my 2 current pub/venue websites looks like a third will be added.

The llp company ive been helping start up are very keen for me to start, my contract ends in the end of september, but i may take a further 3 months to solidify my finances and also pass my driving test!

Also that could be further expanded in the future into a nationwide enterprise so that will be cool, and is the cash cow im looking to be involved in.

Other news is that i should be finishing off my HND, if that goes ahead as planned i will be using the student loan for investment purposes, probably for another business I want to start.

Even more news, after a conversation with my sister, she is interested in starting up a similar business to the one im starting now, so once this one is running ill prob be heavily involved in another company (as well as making sure I pass uni at last lol)

This is mostly the reasons for my limited postings recently, also tbh i want my contributions to be replaced by my money help website, which im really positive about, again if anyone would like to contribute, then Im more than willing to put there info in and credit them, will look good on your respective CVs ;)

    Other than all that!

Sandwiches to work are going well, had a bad week and a half in july, but since then i have had a work lunch only a couple of times, so im proud of that.
Also im quite happy in life in general, bit worried about the state of the world, but i think we all should be.

Donations will be in there 2nd month next month.

This sounds shallow, but since starting donations i have won over £100 on slot machines lol

My main concern is that I am helping several people a month (according to the site blurb) and in future as my wages rise I will donate a much higher percentage each month.

Thankyou all for reading, and thankyou for all the great support and advice you give each other, wether giving advice or just posting

I want you to say to yourself tonight, "kev is right, I should be proud of myself"

    Laters x

Just a quick update to this, trying to keep on the straight and narrow is easier when you have to shame yourself publically.

Not too much has changed really, im £270 closer towards paying off the loan, but because thats the only debt I have now, its not making my balance on my sig look much better lol

Ive decided to re prioritise things anyway, 270 a month i can (and will have to ) live with for another year, so im going to build up some savings (500 a month) so I can have this accounted for then just forget about it.

Ive decided to start looking after the old health a bit more, im hoping someone ;) will do me that exercise plan I asked them to do, also ive given up beer, 2 nights out had 2 cokes, last night orange juice/lemonade, so its made going out cheaper, and i dont feel like c**p in the morning.

Possibly starting going running again soon, been a few years since ive done that lol.

Also kept up my charity donations, but upped it to 30 quid this month.

Business is proving lots of work, but im loving it, learning loads from our (well my) mistakes so the next one will go a lot smoother.

The website is now able to take payments, after a module snafu, so anyone wanting to place an order (shameless promotion here) hehe.

Have been doing the webmarketing now for 2 days, Already in number one position on google uk for altar supplies, so thats paying off :)

Pays off to have insider knowledge lol

Anyways, soon that will be wrapped up and Im planning on starting uni again in October, so have been reading the student funding sections, am going to get the halifax account, and anything else I can get, and either use that in either putting into savings or starting business idea number 2.

On the MSE front ive still been taking food to work, although monday and tuesday this week i slipped up, after a good run, so got back on the path today :)

And also used MSE to find me a cheap piece of PC equipment which is gonna come in handy so thats cool

My contract here (hospital) ends this month so may need a new job, may not, im sure theyll extend it another 3 months, gonna leave the partnership till the new year after I have sorted my driving out (yet another thing im up to at the moment)

    Kev
  • yes, get that license sorted!......such a benefit when you can drive;)
