First dispute - payment held

I just woke up to a dispute this morning. Someone on ebay with 0 feedback bought one of my items yesterday and he sent the payment for it through paypal an hour ago. The payment is now being held, and i believe there's a dispute from the buyer.

This is what I can see on the details page:
The funds are not available while this transaction is being reviewed

and the reason for the dispute:
Inquiry by PayPalTemporary Hold

I have four ways of resolving this issue:
How would you like to resolve this issue?
I have not posted the item and I would like to refund the payment.I can provide proof that the item was posted through an approved postal service to the address on the Transaction Details page.
What information can you provide? I can provide online tracking information for delivery through an approved postal service to the address on the Transaction Details page.I can upload or fax proof that the item was posted through an approved postal service to the address on the Transaction Details page.

I have refunded the payment for this transaction.None of these apply to me.

What should i do??

It could be a fraudulent payment, not a dispute as such. Presumably you ticked the one that said 'I have not posted the item and I would like to refund the payment.'?

  • What is the dispute about. If you only posted it yesterday, then the buyer can't be claiming it didn't arrive. Have you sent it yet? Your post isn't clear. More info needed.
What is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.
  • I have not sent it nor refunded it. It is very unclear to me too. It seems like paypal is detecting fraud and is holding the payment. Here's the email I received from paypal:

To protect you from problematic transactions, we sometimes request
    additional information about PayPal payments.

We need more information about this transaction. Please log in to your
PayPal account, click the "Resolution Centre" tab, and provide more
    information by 23/01/2010.

If you need to provide information by fax, click and print a cover sheet:

Please fax proof of postage or proof of refund to 08707 303 196.

We recommend that you do not post the item until our investigation is
complete. If you've already posted the item, please log in and let us know
    where you posted it.

We have placed a temporary hold on the funds until we complete our
    investigation.
    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Yours sincerely,

  • Peterlanky, it is clear, it was bought yesterday, and not sent.

it could be one of those things where paypal hold the funds when its a new buyer again, though it does sound like an investigation as fraudulent activity.

you could click the option to refund now anyways, so you could always relist and hope you find a better buyer?! good luck with it all! :)
A good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute ...:A

Ah, sorry, your list had the final one separate so I thought you're done it.

If the payment was refunded you can claim back the fees. Go to the Resolution Centre and follow the steps there. If the buyer is no longer a registered member then the refund will be credited instantly rather than having to wait but you still need to go through the Resolution Centre. Buy it now auction Buy It Now auctions aren't eligible to receive the relisting credit.
