Car Insurnace Renewel - Don't accept without checking

Hi all

I just received my car insurance renewel from Norwich Union today and the figure was £413.

I thought this a little steep, so I went online to the Norwich Union website and went through the process of getting a quote - the figure for the same amount of cover and excess was £206.

I contacted NU and spoke to their customer services, who stated that he couldn't beat that figure and suggested I give him the quote reference number and he would cancel my account and set up a new one.

I did this and have saved myself a tidy sum of £207 :T

Don't accept a renewel figure for any insurance until you have got some quotes.

Best wishes

Derek

I did this with my home insurance today and saved £30. Doesnt sound loads but its a good 25% cheaper than their renewal.
