Greece with children

Hello,
I have never been to greece but would like something other than spain this year. I would be grateful for any suggestions as where is good. I would like an island and to stay somewhere that has entertainment but does not cost the earth. FIL will be coming and he is used to top class something we cant afford so we need to find something that appeals to all.

The party will include 5 children 4-13 (2 with sen) and 3 adults.

I have been to Rhodes a few times, but I am going back about 20 years now. We stayed away from the "clubbing hotspots", but near enough to Rhodes town to appreciate the beauty of the place.

When are you thinking of going and what airports could you travel from?

I've done a quick search for the middle of July, and self catering is coming in at £3000, not including meals onboard or baggage or check-in, thats the cheapest on the TC website.

Had a quick look at James Villa's cos figured you'd get a better deal for your money with there being so many of you. Found one on Rhodes, just outside Lindos, which I think is one of the main towns. It looks very modern and has all mod cons. It gets 4.7 out of 5 from customer reviews. That works out at £1800 for the villa or around £4000 for the whole package, including a rental car.

If you want to seperate it all, £1800 for the villa, flights around £1600, car rental would come in at around £300-£400 I would imagine, making the total £3800 or thereabouts if you booked them seperately, so booking the complete package might be better.

In my opinion it looks swish enough to empress, has a nice private pool and gardens for the kids, full kitchen including washing machine and dishwasher, two twin rooms, two double rooms (one with ensuite) and two bathrooms... cor blimey I want to go here....

Looking at those prices, Greece will be out of our budget. I am open any ideas. Cyprus yes, sounds good to me. We managed Spain for 7 ai last June for less than £800.
To much choice...

Cheapest AI I could come up with was £2200 in Turkey, I wish you the best of luck, as you are a person after my own heart, but I really think that £800 for 8 of you all inclusive is gonna be a tough one to beat!
