What should I do. Do I just post the tin with the fly in it back to the manufacturer with a letter of complaint? Tried phoning them but just answerphone. My son was half way through eating the fish when he noticed the fly. Looks like a foreign variety. Yuk!

I'd take it back to the shop where you bought it.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

I'd write or email the manufacturers and complain but keep hold of the tin as evidence just in case. I read of someone on one of the other threads who was fobbed off because they sent in the offending product. They got an apology but nothing more. Keep the receipt for the tin if you can and note any other details you can think of to support your claim.
Good luck!!0 -
Hello Doonhamer
I'll move your thread over to the 'Consumer Vent' board, where it should get more views and responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Count yourself lucky if it had have been metal with a fastener you would have wondered what the fisherman had been up to with the fish :A

Take photos. They will probably ask for it returning, which is reasonable but retain some evidence of it.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0

No no no no no!!!
Had the misfortune of working for a supermarkets customer service centre once and at the time we had a 2 week backlog of mail and it was a summer heat wave. Opened a "letter" some one had posted more than 2 weeks ago an brown sludge that was once minced beef went all over my desk and me.
Either send a letter of complaint with photos to the manufacturer or take the tin back to the store you bought it from. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Take it to the store you got it from. I used to work in a supermarket and we filled in our own complaint forms to send to the manufacturer. At least someone else has seen your tin and fly as evidence! It will also be refridgerated when it is returned. You won't get that if you send it via royal mail!!Wendy0
