help im a bit confused with tax credits

hi im a bit worried with my tax credits for the period 06/04/08 to 05/04/09 i gave them an estimate of 18k ive just had a letter from them asking for a figure which is going to more like 22k, 17k after tax + ni dont know which figure i give will i have to repay any money to them?
im married with 2 children under 16 (if that makes any difference?)

If your 2008/2009 award was based on £18K for the whole of the year you may be ok as TCO allow a £25k disregard and that means as long as your income in that year does not increase by more than £25k your award will remain the same and not overpayment will result.

It's the gross figure - before tax, so the £22k.0
