Pensioner and working Tax Credits

Can anyone help Iam a single woman and will be 60 in April this year and will be entitled to basic state pension as of 2nd week in May. I was very fortunate enough to find a job 3 years ago having been out of work for over 10 years ( surviving on IS for most of that time) I have arthritis and have had both hips replaced thumb joint replaced other thumb joint replacement due to be done this year and knee replacements to be done in the future.(am holding out to have these done for as long as I possibly can ) I am in receipt of DLA and WTC. I want to continue working for as long as I can and defer my pension as I hope to build up a bit of savings for when I have to pack up. My question is will I still be entitled to claim WTC after I reach 60 (pensionable age) ? Sorry for the long post but wanted to explain my situation. My income is low but to have a reason to get up in the mornings after so many years of being virtually housebound makes life worth living again.
Thanks to anybody who can help.

Hi
Sorry can't seem to find an answer straight off so would suggest you ring hmrc tax credits helpline and see what they say.
there is a minimum age to qualify for wtc but I can't find a maximum age. This would lead me to think there isn't a maximum age but I wouldn't want to say this is 100% correct. As you are aware there is an income threshold of around £17k in order to qualify so if your srp and earnings take you above this, then you wouldn't qualify.
When you find out can you post a reply so that we all know the answer! thanksThe Cabbage

There's definitely no maximum age. Your pension will be counted as income though, so if you work and collect pension at the same time, this could bring down your award. It sounds though that you'll work to defer your pension....there is no problem with you doing this.0

Thanks for your replies I now know that there is no maximum age for WTC I will ring HMRC to ask abut my situation of deferring my pension to take as a lump sum when I do pack up work and will post their answer on here as it may be useful for anybody else in my situation.0
