I would imagine though that there was more detail to the story that CD got on the phone, so may have been easier to give other advice.
Personally though, I'd think if you'd already accepted a discount as a remedy (unless I'm reading your OP wrong) then getting something else may be difficult?

The whole fit for purpose thing is still the same as before though, not relevant.

I just hope that the OP has accurately represented the facts to Consumer Direct regarding the discount/comfort guarantee.

I agree with the 'fit for purpose' comments - to say 'I don't like it' isn't the same as not being 'fit for purpose'.

Another customer may have the same mattress and be 100% satisfied with it.

If I buy a pair of shoes and they pinch me, it doesn't mean they're not 'fit for purpose', somebody else could think they're the most comfortable pair they've ever worn.

Hope we get to know the outcome of this 'Unfair Trading'.

As far as 'unfair trading' goes, many retailers use loopholes in the law to sell. I'm sure their lawyers have it all sewn up, so I would hold out very little hope of you winning against them. Otherwise half of theretail industry would have to change their methods.
