lodger left with debt outstanding
Nesty
Hi
I had a lodger (rented a room in my house). There are monies still outstanding owed to me.The lodger said she will pay in next 2 weeks. My lodger soon is going to want her remaining post, which ben delivered to my house as I beleive is important to the person.
As I am owed money, can I withhold this until payment has been made to settle?

Don't withhold the post. But consider minimal responses to contact until the debt is paidHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I am sure you have no legal obligation to pass on the post, but I would not try and hold the lodger to ransom."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Cheers. Thanks for the replies. Naturally I hope the person will honour what they owe and will be settled ok.0

I'd certainly consider holding the post to ransom but then when people owe me money I always live up to my adopted alias0
