help with rads not warming up after the plumber has been.

Hi there, need some help with some radiators not warming up. Today we had two radiators installed (but there was rads there last year the pipes were just capped off). so we havent added more to the supply. my problem is one of the rads isnt hot at all, the pipes feeding it are luke warm and i've thermostatic valve is up to the six.

the other rad is one that has been in the house since we moved in, always worked and now even though the stat is right up its only luke warm, bled them all again no air:mad:

anything else i can try.

Yep - ring him up right now and tell him you expect him back in the morning to sort it out. DO NOT fiddle with it at all because if you do he will be within his rights to walk away or charge you more.

    Cheers

Hi, the valve on the opposite side to the thermovalve has a pull off cover, this needs to be turned anticlockwise to open it to let more water through the radiator. This valve is used to isolate the radiator if its to be removed, but also set up the system so that all the radiators get hot. regards bri:cool:

He should have checked they were working properly and he should have checked the system balance as well. Fiddle with the LSVs and you'll upset that. Call him back in the morning - its what I would expect you to do with me if I'd fitted them. Is it that critical to have these two working tonight?

nah its not critical as such, just thought it might be something easy that just needed turning or something and its working. He has said he will come back monday afternoon.
apparently he drained the whole system so i just thought it might be air stuck in the system (also wife said he never went in the loft so i guess no inhibitor was used in the header tank) shouldnt that be put in?

Yes he should have put inhibitor in but it is not necessary to go into the roofspace to do it. It can be introduced via a radiator. So just because he didn't go in the roof it doesn't mean he didn't do it.

Anyway - he's said he is coming back which is good. Pity you have to wait until Monday though!

yeah, he has to come back as one of the new rads hes put in is slightly weeping (nightmare, nothing ever goes right). I switched most of the rads downstairs off on the thermostats and just left the one in the lounge that wasnt working, and that seems to have made it work strangely enough.

The one thats weeping downstairs still isnt working, strangely enough the pipes to it arent even hot either.
