Letters from solicitors for 12 year old CC?

Hi, advice needed really! I have just started receiving several letters a week from a 'solicitors' firm stating that they are the representatives of Barclaycard and that they want money off me for a CC I had in 1998. They say they will take me to court unless I contact them immediately on an 0870 number......
Am I right in thinking I should just ignore them?

Several? How many is that? I can't imagine too many.
Bin them or turn them over, cut them into 6 bits and use them as post-it type notes.
