healthscreens are available for non-gym members. the screens are now cost significantly more though! instead of the £5 they used to charge you would now have to fork out at least £200 for a screen. you still get the points.QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0 -

Sorry but this information from brownbabygirl is wrong.
Yes, health screens are available to non gym members. Through PruHealth, you will get 50% off the retail price. So, you can have a basic healthscreen at Boots for example for £20. A basic RoadtoHealth screen is £30 and a basic Nuffield screen is £40.
Only when you go for the big screens do they cost a little more. The Nuffield Vi5 is around £220 and the BMI Advanced is around £210.
Not sure if you're on an individual plan or a group plan, but if you're on a group plan you can pay for this from your Personal Health Fund as well, so the screens could effectively cost you nothing.
In terms of points, it's worked out a little differently now. In each type of screen you will have certain tests done (BMI, glucose, cholesterol etc). You will earn 60 points for each test and another 60 points for a good result in each test.
I looked at this for a client recently and they found the best value screen was a basic screen through Nuffield called the Health MOT. In that you have 5 tests done (300 points), and if you're healthy in all 5 areas you'll get a further 300 points. It costs £80 on the high street, £40 if you're a PruHealth member and free if you're a Nuffield gym member too.0 -
ok thanks for the correction. BUT the more health concious would prefer the detailed screens and those are the killer prices. I was also mostly referring to the screens offered by the Diagnostic ClinicQUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0

paul.jacobs wrote: »!!!!!! - got my letter today, from zero to £37 a month to use my gym!! plus the £4.50 a month for my pru as I am a platinum points person. £41.50 a month in total now - £500 a year which I don't have. Guess I have had something for nothing for over 2 years. I will probably carry on with the pru for 1 more year if the premiums stay the same - £55 for the year.
It seems pruhealth are quoting me and a friend a different rate for attending the same gym. We are both platinum members, and like other members on this forum, I am not best pleased with the decision to scrap the old rewards scheme. I would be happier if Pruhealth were straight up about this and said we haven't made as much from this as we expected, rather than "We are responding to feedback from our customers" Ha Di Ha!!MSE - The Stig0 -
Just spoke to PruHealth after calling them with the full intention of cancelling my membership when it expires on April 1st and then continuing with Nuffield Wimbledon at the rate Nuffield quoted me of £42 a month. The only reason I joined up in the first place was for cheap gym membership as I usually go 5 days a week, and I already have health insurance free with work.
Pru then told me on the phone that as I had joined when they were running a promotion called "Why Pay For The Gym" they could offer me my current Platinum London gym rate of £8 and a Platinum cover rate of £8, totally £16 a month for the next 12 months. Apparently I will receive some paperwork confirming this in the next week. Sounds like I've had a bit of a result here. Anybody else had any luck?0 -

I rang to cancel yesterday expecting them to offer a deal, none forthcoming.
Also a platinum member, paying £3.20 a month with free gym. I've had enough,
so I signed up for Nuffield special £40 a month tonight.0 -

Great news for you on that one! I wonder if we can get people to post their experiences of leaving Pruhealth on this forum to see if your deal was unique or whether the retentions team are making an effort to keep customers on board?? :TMSE - The Stig0 -
