Which of these two laptops is better?

Hiya,

I'm not looking for a high end laptop. I need a laptop so I can set up a wireless connection to play movies and mp3s, access files from my desktop computer, browse the internet and play occasional games.

Which laptop is the better choice? they're the same price:

They both seem to have their own pros/cons.

In my personal choice, I'd go for the 2nd one

It has more ram, more HDD space, better CPU, better screen resolution.

It has shared graphics, but I've found that onboard graphics are usually quite good for games etc on laptops. Also depending which games you will play too, but for watching movies onboard is fine.

I can watch movies on my Compaq N610c, it's jitter free, only has 2ghz CPU, onboard graphics (I think) and 1gb RAM.

That's what I was thinking, I was just swayed by the good reviews of the first link and put off by the shared graphics of the second laptop which I guess isn't an issue as I won't be playing any demanding games on it.

Definately the 2nd one in my opinion

It uses the chipset ATI | ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Graphics

Been reading up on it, the first one isn't actually a card but a shared chipset too.... it has maximum of 128mb SHARED memory with a 350mhz clock

The ATI Radeon HD3200 in the second laptop can share up to 512MB of Memory with a 500mhz clock, it also has some technologies for the newest graphics cards (Crossfire X onboard)

Definately better on of two imo for gaming and movies.

Thanks, you've helped make up my mind for me. I'm sending the OH to pick one up now. :T I'd of thought the second laptop would be more expensive especially as it comes with Windows 7 64bit but they're both the same price.

    I appreciate your help.

Technology is always changing so things get cheap pretty quickly.

You're buying into a good make with the Satellite Pros' anyway, so needless to say it's a good investment. You can always upgrade it at later date if you're never happy :)
