LPS Fine and Solicitor Letter

I've read these forum and am pretty sure that they are just trying to scare me into paying but thought I would post for reassurance.
In October I parked in a pub car park for all of 5 minutes whilst I went to the cashpoint. 30 Seconds after (according to the time) I had a ticket for £50!
Now I have ignored 3 letters from Local Parking Security Ltd and now I have had one from Brethertons Solicitor threatening court action stating I have already been informed of "My legal obligations". Do I just keep ignoring, I have made no contact with them?
Also, out of interest, I have read (if it went to court) that they need to prove I stopped custom to the pub because I was using the car park. The pub was borded up and had been for months, not only that there was tape covering some of the text on the parking signs which I then assumed that there was no need to pay as the pub was closed and part of the sign was covered.
I also took pictures as evidence on my phone! (The pub has since re-opened) So if they did take me to court I doubt they will win?? :j
I can post pics if needed. Grateful for any advice.

Just ignore.
Even if the pub was still operating, it went to court, and they "proved" that you had stopped custom, what amount of money could they claim?
They would have to find that mythical person who was prevented from parking and using the pub. Then they would have to ask them how much they was intending to spend there, and only claim for that amount and no more. So an impossible task for the parking company and their legal hangers-on.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
£4.80 for the pint you didn't have.

Ignore it... put it in a different coloured file for fun....Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Doesn't matter who the PPC is, they tend to follow the same well-trodden path of standard letters designed to frighten you. By way of illustration, here is a pictogram of the letterchain by Euro Car Parks:

and here's the same sort of letterchain by NCP (notice 'END OF SCAM' for both!):

(many thanks to Alx*27 for posting these links ages ago).
The private parking company will NOT take you to Court, and a Debt collection agency cannot do anything at all except bother you (which can be construed as harassment, which IS illegal)!
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The thanks is all due to Alx*27 for the pictograms which I loved too. They show for sure that Court does not follow, and they helped me see what I would get next as my ticket was Euro Car Parks. I knew to ignore but it was great to see which letter was the final one!
There are no others yet but Alx*27 has said he would like to do some more.
Perhaps anyone who can provide the scans of letters form another PPC can contact him to find out how to do a pictogram like these. Maybe we should have the pictograms on a sticky, with instructions how to add a new one?
TBH all PPCs threatening letters are similar and Court cases extremely rare - so you can read these pictograms to apply to most private parking tickets.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Excellent idea, as you say PPC letters are pretty similar, but a sticky library of the letter chains from individual PPC's would help reassure the more nervous posters exactly what they can expect from beginning to end of the scam.Coupon-mad wrote: »Maybe we should have the pictograms on a sticky, with instructions how to add a new one?0 -
I feel so cheated as Parking Eye gave up after only one begging letter.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

I got two letters from Brethertons threatening court action in 7 days and then 3 days in the 2nd letter if I didn't comply.
I have heard nothing since. That was eight weeks ago.
So hold your nerve people nothing will happen.:j
I lined the cats basket with them. Recycle recycle recycle0
