Hi, please help, i write this through tears. Long story short, i reclaimed credit card charges of £1300 and got offered £400. As it was coming up to Xmas I said ok. A month later I then get another offer letter of £990 and again I said yes. Couldn't believe it, this money would have got me out of a huge hole just now. Anyway, got a cheque in today for £350 (£400 minus a £50 charge). Phoned up and they said that this was the original agreed amount - then why come back and offer me £990?? I am so angry, mainly at myself, but was desperate at the time. Is there anything I can do now?
Thankyou

Hello there
Try not to be too upset and we will see what we can do.
Did you say yes to the first offer amount in writing or on the phone?
What card company is it?
Do you still have both letters?
Do they relate to the same CC account number?
Have you cashed the cheque yet? Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.0 -
Hi, i accepted by signing the letter they originally sent. I have been thinking about it all day and i think what happened is when they originally replied to me they said that i couldnt claim all the charges back to 2001 (i only claimed in Sept of last year) and that it could only go back to 2003, thus nulling any claims before that period (were most of my charges fell). I double checked on MSE and this was confirmed. Coupled with the fact I was completely skint, I agreed. I then got another offer letter a month later, so i think this means they hadnt received my first acceptance - this would make sense, although why it took so long to reach them I don't know. The cheque came today, and sitting with 1.46 in my purse, I cashed it.
I know I'm a bloody idiot, but when you're on your own with three kids its really hard.
It was with Capital One.
I hope people read this and are able to hold out longer for what's rightfully theres.
Thanks Orc
