ID Card

Options
My wife is in the army and was wondering how I go about getting a ID card to allow me into the barracks.

Is this possible?

  • You should get your wife to see her Unit Welfare Officer and see if they provide a Families ID Card, however I am not sure if many units do them in the UK. It is more of an overseas thing from my experience.

Get yourself to the Guardroom/Vetting Clerk. They will give you some forms to fill in. You may even get one there and then. It depends how busy/helpful they are.

You will need to let them know why you need access ie gym use etc.....
  • Your a star thank you!

Here you go the guardroom and get your form, get your photo etc taken. I believe the UWO's have to sign the forms as well now, but not 100% sure on that.

You could contact your local Hive for confirmation of the details.

Generally a local form, if you say you want a "dependants pass" they should know what you're after

Honestly, different units have different requirements for ID issue. You could give the pass office/guardroom/vetting clerk a ring and ask their opening hours.

Get yourself down there during those opening hours and they should sort you a pass.

You don't need to rattle off form numbers, they will have done it hundreds of time previously!
