Our Waitrose takes 50% off with manufacturers coupons. I have only been a few times and they look at me like I am mad when i hand them over, don't they they get many MSE's in there!

It's only a small store, but really clean and you never have to wait in the queue as they always have lots of staff on!

Can anyone tell me where you get the book vouchers from?

I fed my family through my maternity leave on vouchers at waitrose. My local would accept any amount of vouchers off of the shop and I would regularly buy £100 - £150 of shopping and hand over £70-£100 worth of vouchers. I never used internet printed ones - they were all legitimately collected from newspapers / womens magazines i.e. remember when Best had like £40 worth of vouchers in one special edition? (sigh...the good old days).

I always followed their guidelines on what they would accept, never tried to "get away" with anything and save a few ignorent cashiers (who were set right by the supervisor), they were polite and happy to accept them.

The only thing they stopped doing was accepting the magazine vouchers that the Times were printing - £3 off of Esquire becuase the publishers wouldn't refund large quantities of them. The manager honoured my last shop there by taking these but then said in the future they would only accept grocery vouchers in any quantity - magazine ones had to be with each copy of the magazine purchased.

Needless to say, I haven't been back since, but we had a year of lovely quality food and we're only just getting to the end of the freezer supplies from there!!

It is understandable that they are strict on internet vouchers (or mags at a certain extent), but it is up to the management of individual stores to what they'll allow. Sweet stores though!!!

We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................

  • Nice checkout girls there tell me it's 10% at Harrogate. Did manage to convince one that £2 was 10% of £15, but that was the best I could manage.

I think it's because we don't have a Tesco and are only competing with Asda who are the same 10%. Long live competition.
So many glitches, so little time...
