2 children are on JSA???? If they are old enough for JSA then the parents shouldnt be claiming tax credits for them
Yes she needs to tell tax credits she is no longer working and claiming JSA
  • Sorry I was trying to type that with my own little boy wriggling on my lap lol
The women is on Contribution JSA
    Man works FT
They have 2 children 7 and 5 years old
She claims Contribution based JSA for herself at around 64 a week
The tax credits award is based just on the mans income do they need to let them know that she now gets JSA at 64 a week
Hope thats clearer and son is now playing with his toys lol
    Thanks again

  • The JSA is a taxable benefit and as such needs to be declared as income.

It sounds like you put JSA income based into the calculator. If someone's on JSA inc based, it increases/keeps their tax credits at maximum. It's almost impossible to be on JSA income based and either partner working enough hours for WTC at the same time. Contributions based JSA counts as income as subsonic said, so your friend needs to phone the helpline and inform them of her extra income. It might not make much difference this year.
