Just returned from Spain and amazed at how cheap it was to eat and drink out - usually visit France - so can any travellers tell me where else in Europe I can go and get such a good deal? I am keen to visit Italy or Greece if not too dear.

Greece is still very cheap to eat out. SInce the Italians converted to the Euro a lot of businesses have capitalised and put prices up, so it is not as cheap to eat out in Italy as it used to be. The major cities have always been expensive. However there are still many places you can eat cheaply. You certainly couldnt get a pizza in the UK for about £3 the size and quality you get in Italy!

I never could figure out why a glorified cheese sandwich is so expensive here
There's also the Eastern European countries to consider, though it tends to be the heartier type of meal. What goes around - comes around0
