  • I'm new to DFW as well....and can definitely relate to the OCD on debt busting.

And as turfy6 says - I wish I could also be that OCD with weightwatching (cleaning I am fairly ok with, so not too worried about that one!)

  • Well still going strong - on CC2 and paid £189 off leaving £650, hope to clear this in 6 weeks not going to be easy but will do my best !

Also have £40 in my new esavings account, not sure if I'm going to leave it there for Christmas or use it in a bit to help clear a debt, but at the moment it's like a safety net so I'll leave it there

OH took me out last night, we went for an Italian I couldn't help but think the money could have gone on a debt and was a bit of a waste :o OH has no debt and it's nice to be treated now and then but this shows how much I want a debt free life, but it's my debt and I will clear it...now I sound ungrateful :o

Loving life at the moment xx
  • Nothing much to report really...managed to scrape my Virgin (Phone/Internet/TV) money a few days early meaning I could ring and set up a DD for next month...they charge £5 a month for not paying by DD !!!

Will be Saturday before I can pay anymore off my debts so I'm trying not to spend unless neccesary :A
  • £150 off CC2 today leaving a balance of £500 :j This is Capital One with an APR of 34% so can't wait to see the back of it :D

Not sure what to do with the next 2

Got one with a balance of £563 APR 6% and one with a balance of £2,048 with an APR of 9%, should really do the 9% one but think I can clear the 6% one a lot quicker....hmmmm what to do ?!?!?!

Good thing is after these are done that's all the ones with interest paid
  • Thanks to a lovely family member Capital One has been paid off !!

Time to start on CC#3 Balance £563

Have also rang SWALEC this morning and managed to reduce my DD's from

    Elec - £110 to £80
    Gas - £90 to £50

Payments were high due to arrears but balance on both is now £0 so that's a saving of £70 per month which will be plowed into the debts :D

If I look at the whole picture I get very depressed seems like it will take forever...but with these small but crippling debts being paid it keeps me going...I kick myself every day for getting into this mess in the first place, have no idea how it got this bad really :o

I feel so lucky to have a fabulous family, wonderful kids and a great OH :A
  • Hi Gottaclearthem

Been reading your diary the past couple of days and thought I'd just post quickly to say how fantastically you seem to be getting on.

You seem to be really positive, and have made fantastic inroads into your debt in just a couple of weeks. You also seem to have a lovely OH and great family (esp. the one who paid off Capital One for you - wow! :D).

I just wanted to wish you luck with the rest of the debt busting - I'll be reading anyway and wishing you good fortune until your DFD. You've already freed up (minimum) £70pm so this could cut your DF date down significantly? Or you could use £50ish of it towards your debts and save the other £20 or so for Christmas/emergencies so that you have a little backup?

Anyway, I've subscribed to your diary now so I'll look forward to seeing how you get on in future :)

    Turtle x
Moving house fund = £1200.00 to go
    NSD's since 11/1/10 = 8
Bronze, Silver & Gold Challenge started 14/1/10
Achieved so far = none :o
    Bye-Bye Wobbly Belly = 6/30lbs
  • It is very daunting..but I am slightly obsessed :o
Have reaslised I don't need any toiletries or clothes in 2010 apart from maybe a few summer tops will go to Asda and Tesco for these

Would love to clear 10k by the end of the year but have a feeling things will begin to slow down soon...I am constantly logging onto my bank and snowball account and trying to swap things around etc :o

Have a rebate from SWALEC which will go onto CC#3 which should only take a few weeks to clear, but balance on CC#4 is just over 2k so that's going to take awhile, I'm hoping 4 months ??

Anyway thanks for popping in, nice to have company :A

    Hi there,

I've just read your diary and it's so lovely and positive.

I set myself the payment in 100 days, initially £700 off my OD by 18th April. I smashed £900+ this month. So might have to up the target.

I love hearing about people meeting a gorgeous decent bloke, helps me believe that there is someone out there for me.

I'm off to do my PAD (i'm obsessed with it). I'm also off to check ebay, have you thought of doing that? I'm having nightmares that i'll run out of things to sell!!

I've subscribed to your diary and I'll pop in and say hi,

    Have a great weekend.

I am now concentrating on the Barclaycard balance of 2k so will take a bit longer hoping to clear it by June/July

Then will tackle NEXT..Balance is £1,500 no interest

Can't see any expenses in Feb..got a birthday but have bought presesnts in the sale...new trainers for my little un for back to school after half term again in the sale so hopefully can have a good month :D
