My diary

Hi there

Would like to keep a diary if that's ok

My situation: Seperated early 2008 and left with 18k debt, on benefits with 3 children

Late 2009, found myself a fantastic part time job, that fits around the children, 4 hours a day, 4 days a week. Have met a fantastic man, didn't realise there were any around but I have honestly landed right on my feet

2010 is the year I need to start tackling my debts and I feel SO positive, I am in a better position to up payments so thought Snowballing would be the best way forward

I owe Lloyds TSB 14k

The other 4k is made up of small (ish) Credit Cards and Catalouges that are mostly with DCA's payments set up with no interest...so first going to tackle the ones with interest still being added

My 1st Challenge of the year is to clear CC1 (Adams)

3rd Jan owe £338

Paid Minimum payment £15
Extra £100
Extra £50

Now owe - £173

My aim is hopefully to clear this by the end of January and then tackle CC2 (Capital One £800 (ish) waiting for new statement)

Thanks for reading and look forward to updating xx

Hi! And welcome - loads of friendly and helpful peeps around here!

Ooh that APR is a little harsh! Good luck on your DF quest - you seem really positive!

34% APR is horrific. Is your credit history good enough to take out another card and balance transfer it to a lower interest rate?
Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.50
  • Credit rating is shot to pieces..which is not a bad thing really I never want credit again...my plan is to clear CC1 this month then throw every spare penny at Capital one and hopefully pay it off by the end of April

Last month I paid £40 and the interest was £23  on a balance of £840 ish
  • Feb 2012 is my aim to clear £13,900 :o

I will be very skint and ALL my spare money will be snowballed...just hope I got the willpower, 2 years is a long time to stick to something so strict.

Have put all debts in order of APR, then the smallest ones with DCA's (no interest) hoping to save and chase a full and final with these but that won't be until 2011 when I've cleared the ones with interest still being added

Have also opened an esavings account with my bank so putting a few £ in this for Christmas, 2010 will be the 2nd of year of no debt for Christmas if I can manage it :T

Feeling a bit flat today, have paid all I can for this week and need to wait until next weekend to pay off Adams CC...£173 just wish it would hurry up !!

Thanks for putting up with me moaning but it really does help x
  • Thanks to this forum and the inspiration of other people I have today cleared Debt #1 Adams CC was £338 beggining of the month and today balance is £0
Also managed to pay £20 extra off CC2 Capital One...Balance on bill this month £839 paid normal payment of £50 + £20 so now = £769

Feeling on top of the world...funny really seeing as my debt is still £13k + but small steps eh

So my allocated £30 petrol went onto CC2 leaving £739 :j

  • Thankyou :A

I do feel positive, instead of looking at the bigger picture of my debt I'm concentrating on one at a time..doing the "1 debt in 100 day" challenge which has been a real inspiration

Slightly obsessed if I'm honest...OCD on debt busting ?? ;)
