My son is going tobe starting driving lessons soon
He would like to get a car prob a peugot 203, fiesta something little
Where would be the best place to get insurance for a youngster for when he gets a car and wants car insurance
is there companies who deal with the learners or younger driver?
Also what would be the best car for insurance ..ie...what would cost less to insure....ie a peugot, fiesta corsa etc
Sorry to ask just trying to do some work before he gets a car he cant afford to insure.

There will be no cheap insurance for a 17 year old learner, and it actually goes up once they pass their test.
And for the car, something small and cheap would be best. Will still cost alot to insure but would you want to spend thousands on a car for them to maybe damage it while learning?
And iv never heard of a peugeot 203...0 -
Read Martin's guide to insurance, use the comparison sites and use the forum search facility to find the myriad of threads on this exact same subject.
I'm sure I'm not the only one getting a little tired of someone coming on here virtually every day and asking the same question.0 -
As somebody above has said, there is no such thing as a "young driver friendly" insurer. The reality is that, as a teenager, insurers would rather you didn't bother with them.
The simple answer is to get the yellow pages, a few cups of coffee and a pen. The comparison sites will help as a starting point but many struggle to cope with anything other than a "normal" quote (ie, they soon get flummoxed by young drivers, performance vehicles, convictions, etc). Use those as a guide, then then ring round the rest (including brokers) and brace yourself for the lowest price still being a four-figure number.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. To be honest, insurance for younger drivers is always going to be expensive. However, some are much better than others. All of my affordable quotes have been from Admiral and also Elephant. Expensive yes, but not the ridiculous.
I'm 25, I can get a quote for £1500 from Admiral yet the AA and BSM who have their own brand driving schools come out with quotes upwards of 3 or 4 thousand. for the same car.
There are definitely insurers who will take on younger drivers for much less than the majority of the market. Its all about taking the initial insurance hit. 17 year olds are probably better off getting a cheap, low insurance group car combined with third party or TPFT cover only.
I'd say get the full license sorted, then worry about the insurance later.0 -
I would get a car and insurance for your son now while he is learning to drive ( your son being the main driver) This will be cheaper, because as a learner, he can only drive the car when he has a qualified driver sitting with him.
The insurance will go up when he has passed, because he will then be able to drive on his own.
This way he will be gaining at least a years no claims bonus.
We have a 17 year old son who has not long passed his test, we wished we have done this.
We have found Quinn Insurance the cheapest so far, this is for a Corsa. We have also found that a Ford KA comes out at a good price.
This will change, depending on where you live and where you keep the car.0 -
Agree with above, Admiral and Quinn insurance are good ones to try. Is he a student? Endsleigh used to be the best for me when I was studying at that age. Read Martins guide, and use the scrapers. Remember cashback too!
Id also try CIS insurance, can also be cheaper.0 -
Its going to vary, but after trying a few comparison sites you will soon get an idea of which car and insurer combo works out best and cheapest for you.0
