Hello
I've booked to stay in Scarborough this Sunday for my OH's birthday. Can anyone advise on things to do out of season? I've been many times but not without kids and not in the winter! Would love to know of local gigs, places to eat, things to do etc. Have searched local press but its not turning anything up.
Hope you can help

If you're going by car make sure you visit Whitby on the way in or out!0

Well it depend really on what type of things you like. I love the all you can eat buffet at Red Dragon on Falsgrave Road. But that may not be your thing. If you like big sunday roasts and have a car, or even if you are willing to take the bus (128). The Denison Arms at East Ayton does great meals. For things to do again it depends on what you like. The beach makes a nice romantic walking place even at this time of year. Just wrap up. Or see what is on at the Futurist or the Hollywood Plaza. The bars around town will be open ifthats you thing but i doubt they will be busy. As for gigs i'm not sure about a sunday night but there are usually gigs on in a couple of the pubs. Tap and Spile would be a good starting place to ask they are known for gigs but I don't know about a Sunday Night. Hope this helps0

I like all you can eat buffets AND sunday roasts! so will give it some thought! we're stopping off at a driving range to do some golfing in Leeds on the way up, will definitely be strolling along the beach, in the evening we'll probably visit a few pubs and would love to stumble across a gig (my OH loves music) so I'll try the tap and spile! Thanks for the info about the fturist too, I've done loads of searches for whats on and this never even came up! theres nothing there that suits us at the mo but its good to know!
any other thoughts appreciated
Thanks again

dont bother with the sea life centre, it is open but the huge tank is empty, walk thru tunnel etc due to a leak, cant see sharks and big turtle properly as they are in a temp tank went last sun and was very disappointed, still charging full price to get in as well! the sand bank bit has been closed for weeks due to reconstruction work going on.
we like winking willys on sea front for chippy.0 -
Thornton le Dale and Pickering have some great scenery. Got a really nice pub in Thornton dale. Pickering is the starting place for steam train.
Scarborough itself has lost some of its activities that we used to frequent. The mere wasa great day out for the kids, hispaniola boat ride to island digging for treasures, great fun0
