Accident Query

Hi everyone,
My boyfriend is a named driver on my insurance and had an accident in the snow. He skidded and hit a kerb, no other vehicle involved. As i said, he's a named driver on my policy, fully comp. I have 7 years NCB which is protected.
He has his own car with his own insurance policy and he also has a NCB.
We were hoping to repair it without involving the insurance but the garage are quoting £1800 so i think the insurance will have to pay.
My question is in relation to the NCB. Firstly, does anyone know if i will lose my NCB? It is protected but i don't know if it is protected against a claim made by a named driver? I am insured with Direct Line if that makes a difference. Secondly will by boyfriend lose his NCB which is on his own insurance policy?
Many thanks in advance for any comments or help.

Your protected ncb works for any claims you make on the policy (ie this claim won't affect your NCD).
Your boyfriend will need to inform his own insurer of the incident but it won't affect his NCD.0 -
Thank you Quentn. This has really put my mind at rest.0

It will probably (99%) affect both of your premiums for the next 3-5 years.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
Yes, i am expecting it to affect us both but was more concerned that we would still have "some" no claims! Thanks0
