enterprise car hire - overcharged us

few weeks back our car broken down and we had to hire a car from Enterprise car rental, so went online and booked it for 3 days from Sat to Monday at 10 pounds a day - we were hoping to get car fixed by then, anyway due to problems sourcing the car part we had to extend the car hire for an extra 7 days - I was expecting to pay the 10 pounds a day for the extra 7 days, anyway after checking my credit card statement they have charged me 20 pounds per day and after discussing this with them, Enterprise said I only got the weekend special for the first 3 days hire. Yet when I extended the car hire no one mentioned this to me about doubling the daily charge and checking the original contract I got no mention of this

where do I stand on this, as a consumer what can I do ?

Weekend rates are usually less than week rates, did you ask them the rate for the extension of hire?

not really, as I was under impression it was the same, only concern is when I extended the hire period, and called in no one mentioned the increase in daily charge nor can I see anything on the paperwork I have to state this.

Sorry but no legs to stand on. I was a branch manager for 1car1 for a few years and weekend rates are ALWAYS cheaper than weekday as the utilisation drops at weekends therefore they just need the cars out! It is your responsibility to check the rates before you agree.

Enterprise have done nothing wrong. They have charged you the usual weekday rate. Really the onus was on you to check the rate for what is effectively a new booking.

Purely as an example, when Avis have a sale I often book a new vehicle for £1 a day. If I decide to keep the vehicle longer I expect to pay the going rate not the sale rate and don't expect them to advise me of the correct price unless I specifically ask them.

I agree, it is down to the customer to check rates before committing.
