PPI Legislation

Hi,

Can someone tell me what Acts and legislation make PPI claimable.

This topic interests me and is something i want to take up with my bank, but i would like to revise it all throughly first.

The threads and posts that i have read so far are all about claiming back and individual situations, but none are why and where it states what the banks can't do to make it claimable.

Many Thanks

Hi, there is a reclaiming guide here with reasons as to why insurance can be missold.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

This may help and also there were rules for selling insurance set out by the FSA on 14th January, 2005. If these rules were not met at the time of the sale then it can be missold. Before regulations there was a voluntary code called the GISC (general insurance standards council) and if the firm were a member of it prior to the FSA regulation then again, there were rules for sales. Banks can also have complaints about their selling methods as they would have had rules set out prior to FOS from the Old Banking Ombudsman.

If you take a look at the sticky here

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475623

it gives ALL the relevent regulatory codes and rules.

Hope this helps and please post back if this is not what you meant.;)
  • That is brilliant, thankyou.

Also i am looking into the credit agreement i have and seeing if it is unenforceable or not.

I have read unenforceability templates on here and that has all the acts and legislation about requesting your credit report. But, I am wanting to know what legislation and acts are in place to then see if that credit report you requested is unenforceable.

When i recieve my credit report from my bank, when i read through that i want to know what legislation and from which acts proves that it can be unenforceable.

Would be ghreatly appreciated if you could help with that.

    Many Thanks

Hi, if its the agreement that you are wanting to see about then its probably best asked on the loans thread as there are similar posts on there. This one is for mainly just claiming PPI.;) I am sorry, I have no idea on the legalities on this.
