I assume I read this with a very heavy Scots accent?

Well, you could if you like...... But a black American accent a la Run DMC would be more accurate.;)
BTW you owe me an apology.....

    For?

    Don't fall for this McTittish.

It's one of those "women traps" that you'll end up regretting.

(sooryy fc, but McTittish is a very silly boy and needs a bit of guidance now and again)

TBH I am not the trap setting type.....never had the need as they tend to just fall in unaided...........but he owes me a 'sorry' at some point.

I found your remarks to be obnoxious.

Which surprised me, as I generally find you to be one of the better, and nicer, posters around here.

I respect people that have a sense of humour, even when I am the target of jokes. Most people know that about me.

For some reason, I didn't find that funny. Sorry.

Doesn't mean for one second that I dislike you, or find you personally to be obnoxious. On the contrary, you are one of the better posters here.

But I won't apologise for stating my mind about your comments at the time.

There is a private finance company which they all rave about on Property Tycoon forums for financing compared to difficulties experienced trying to borrow from more mainstream lenders. The guy who runs it has a colourful past having been kicked out of Australia for his lending activities there.

Not saying he's the only private finance company of course. If these private sources are lending at lower rates and more freely than the mainstream then they must feel comfortable with the risks. The borrowers must also feel confident they can meet their commitments, as I'd guess some of these private finance companies would go for the jugular if they don't get their regular repayments.

this thread has gone all wacko!

that's a very strange forum - wouldn't touch anything like this!!!

the firms i was referring to where more private finance companies that were linked to pension funds and investors who needed a hedge long term against their cash.

    Fair enough......

Can I ask? Have you always lived up there (or born, worked away for a while then went back) or did you choose to settle there cos of work etc?

    Sure.

Born here. Family here. Bought a house up here very young, but then lived and worked all over the World, USA, Middle East, Australia, Europe, etc, on and off for two decades. Having a mortgage never stopped us enjoying life to the full.

Then moved back and settled down close to home and family, much of which was due to an unexpected turn in fortune for an aging relative. So we gave them our house to live in rent free and bought another.

Currently a regional manager for a FTSE 250 company, Scotland is my region, but based from home so a good deal overall. Could make more money if I moved to England, but just not interested. If I wanted to make more money, tax free, I could still be overseas..... That is no longer the most important thing in life....

No, the most important thing in life is humanity.

When you write about Aberdeen (whatever the topic :o) you do come over as very connected to the area. Knowing that helps see your POV too.

Have you ever worked in London for a time? Not digging out info, just interested really as you are very passionate when you write about stuff and aboit Aberdeen.....but down here, things can be harder as it's so crazily expensive. Many jobs don't have wage levels that much higher either.
Even during the 90's slump, homes were expensive IMO...well were for us when we bought a long time ago.

Perhaps a bit hippy-dippy for me, although the wife may agree with you.

As I see it, we have enough to get by now no matter what happens. One house paid for, substantial savings and investments, and a mortgage on the second (cheaper) house less than 2 times income now thanks to overpayments.

We give a lot to charity, we help our nearest and dearest, we enjoy life, we get paid well for what we do, and I rarely get stressed as I really enjoy how I earn a living.

There's not much more to expect really....
