i have a seperate account for all DD and pay in a set amount every week for all the bills on the 1st of the month

works out quite well as the 5 week months means i have an extra few hundred pounds to stick in the savings account

Good idea! I separate the Mortgage and pay that from a separate Account.

Now that is a cracking idea - I am feeling less and less organised as the day goes on! Maybe I am odd in liking the challenge of keeping my DD's as they are! :rotfl:

I used to stagger my DDs when my OH was paid weekly and I was paid 4 weekly and I can agree the spreadsheet was a must to make sure everything got paid without leaving us short. I ended up setting up a second bills account just to simplify things and I can't tell you how good it was to finally start getting paid monthly and move them all back to the 1st of the month.

Budgeting on a weekly cycle is harder than it seems for people that haven't had to do it.

  • hey all!!!
well i am jumping on board this new shiny thread!
Although i am presently out of work, OH has just changed his job and is now paid weekly rather than monthly....already i am pulling my hair out worrying week to week what needs to be where and when! I am sure i will get used to it.

I too am also looking forward to April!! An extra week will be fab!! We have a lloyds account at the mo with a large O/D on it and so im thinking maybe setting up a normal account for bills may be a good idea?? then pay back O/D bit by bit??? u think??

Look forward to joining you all in here and hopefully getting lots of help with the old budgeting etc.

    Hi Debt.b.gone!!

I definitely think that setting up a separate account for bills and treating the OD as a 'debt' is definitely a way forward!

I hope you are all well? Pepe - you made me laugh at your 'radical' comment..... have decided that I just don't like making life too easy for myself!

Julie67 - I haven't forgotten about you - just 'tweaking' the spreadsheet, so I should be able to send it over on Monday!

    Happy Weekend All! :D
