The "I get paid weekly" chat and support thread

Hi!
Having been an active DFW for over a year now, I realise how important the daily chat, exchange of ideas and the sheer amount of support and encouragement that comes from these forums is! :A
However, I realised last night that there is no dedicated place for those people who are paid weekly - and believe me it does affect how you budget! For those of you who are paid monthly, you can do your budget for the month (adjusting as necessary for the odd 5 week months) and watch your accounts run down to £0 (in theory of course). If you are paid weekly then you are faced with a whole different thought process. Take me for example......
I get paid every Friday
I have a couple of large DD's each month (and quite a few smaller ones!) - due to DD's being set monthly, sometimes the big DD's fall in different weeks (and therefore different paydays) but sometimes they fall in the same week and before any living expenses I have paid out more than I have earned!
This calls for budgeting ahead at all times, to ensure that there is enough money available for those 'expensive DD weeks'!
So, if you too are paid weekly and would like to jump aboard this shiny new thread and share your strategies, I look forward to seeing you!!

I find that it takes some of the worry out of Monthly DDs to have their due-dates on th 8th, 16th, 22nd e.g. That way you are guaranteed 1,2 or 3 paydays before the DD comes out.
A simple thing , but it works. Beware changing DD dates without first checking with the payee as some will charge an 'Admin' Fee ( fairly or not!) when asked to change.
edit; and a Spreadsheet is a MUST!!!
Good idea for a Thread though! Pepe

Hi Pepe!
Sooo true on the DD dates *goes away to wonder why she hasn't moved any of her own*
And where would we be without spreadsheets? I love mine!
Thanks for dropping by!
Obviously an upside to being paid weekly is we don't have to make our money stretch to a 5 week month - every cloud and a silver lining and all that!

Thanks Nat! get those DD dates sorted out NOW!....and 5 week Months are the best:D
Julie, I'm an old-fashioned boy:p and when I say Spreadsheet I literally mean that!
I have an A4, ring-bound, notebook. 1 page is used for each month. I have a sheet which lists all my monthly outgoings which is sellotaped on a much later page in the book so that it can be 'spread' ( you see now?
) out when I am working on the Current Months Budget.
Each month is then broken up into weeks according to pay-dates and outgoings are fitted into those weeks......hopefully showing a balance that will be enough for the monthly ones.
I'd rather have the hard-copy than on a Computer, its quicker:D
Even better, it drives Mrs P NUTS!

Blimey Pepe - that does sound like hard work!;) Poor Mrs P!!
Once all the formulas are in my spreadsheet and few clicks and taps and off I go! It's great because I can see what affect overpaying will have on my account balance this week, next week and next month!
But it is definitely a case of whatever works best for you! I ran a page-a-day diary for about 6 months with everything logged in there - just got fed up of lugging it around with me all the time!
Oh, there are 5 paydays in April!
