I use a portable 4 in 1 jump starter. You don't need another car. http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=usb&ModuleNo=49038&C=SO&U=Strat15

I keep one of them securely stored in my boot, I didn't pay Maplins outrageous price though, mine was £14.99 for an identical item.

    Very useful item.

Have you both tested that the item does what it says on the tin? Wouldn't want to be stuck with a dead battery take that out the boot and find it doesn't work.

there was an AA van across from my house the other night at one of my neighbours cars, he was clearly using jump leads attatched to his van,no booster pack in sight.

So what are you trying to say?

Indeed, I have used mine on a few occasions, not on my own car, but on friends and neighbours cars, works brilliantly.

I have only used the tyre pump on my own car.

What are you trying to say? Let me help....

Are you saying the AA knows some magic tricks which no one else has been told about and which the manufacturers are not telling us to do when we jump our cars, and Haynes are not telling us?

That's not really any help at all im afraid.

If I try and jump start my car and it damages the ecu and of course if I admit doing it it invalidates the warranty.

No idea on a haynes manual for my car as yet I have never looked as its under warranty.

Not all cars are the same you know.

Forgive me for being stupid, but what are you trying to say, if what I thought you were saying is not it?

Fair enough but the way I was reading it from your op you made it sound like I was talking out of my !!!!.

I do believe the same applies to you Wig if I managed to unravel your riddle correctly.
