Lloyds CCard missed payment

I have Lloyds TSB Duo ccard (AmEx / MC) and have been quite happy with them. I made last payment on 3rd of December, never received December statement via post and completely forgot the next payment in the middle of Christmas and New Year hassle.
Today I found out I had missed a payment after a call from Lloyds collections department. I immediately authorised a payment from my debit card, they could only take the minimum payment. The whole conversation was rather confusing, the Lloyds collector kept telling me "you have to pay the full balance" and at the same time saying she can only take the minimum payment from my debit card. They also indicated I should keep them informed of the payments I make online which is bit weird.
I take the full responsibility, missing the payment was a genuine mistake from my part. This has never happened to me before. I will call the Lloyds card services again tomorrow but do you think there is any change of reducing the £12 late fee and do you think there is any chance of not paying the full balance immediately? After the Christmas shopping I was planning to clear the card balance by end of Jan. Of course I can pay the card fully now if absolutely needed. On top of the minimum charge Lloyds processed while I was on the phone I also transfered online payment later today for £100,- (which I will confirm to them as requested on the phone) leaving the balance on about £600.
Also, do you think this will affect my credit rating?

That seems a rather heavy-handed response to one missed payment, there's really no need to demand full repayment immediately. I'd give customer services a call and discuss - if you explain that it was a one-off mistake then the have been known to waive the fee, although they don't have to.
You'll get a '1' on your credit file for a missed payment, but in isolation that's not significant - happens to most people at some point. If there are a number of '1's showing you regularly miss payments, or '2's and '3's for payments missed several months in a row, then that's much more of an issue.0
