nope I went for this model VGN-N385E
but yes sound is working..before you get excited both your and my link point to the same driver file (sorry)
but having said that I tried so many permutations with all the drivers before finding the us site! , maybe i affected something ...
ive powered everyhing down, its been 12 hours of frustration.
ill check the thread tomorrow, if you still have not come right ill look for the actual installed file names for you

thanks, look forward to your feedback. In the device manager i only have PCI with the yellow question mark. Maybe that is linked to the audio?
I will wait for your reply before deciding to delete the audio driver and reinstall.

I had the same problem with the exact same laptop. I gave in.
Windows 7 works a treat, no problems or messing about at all.On the internet you can be anything you want.It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -
Problem solved.
Got around to looking at it this afternoon. Reinstalled the audio drivers and it worked.
Don't know why it was playing up before. The laptop is updated at SP2 level.
