2009 Ford Focus - good buy?

Hi all,

Looking at upgrading current car for a 2009 focus. Will have about 10k to play with.
ideally a 1.6 zetec or a 1.6 tdci zetec.

Any pointers on these - looking for a car to last 4-5 yr

cheers

Try Copthorne Motors - not far from Gatwick, I got my Focus from there - they get loads of Fords and are very helpful and friendly. They get alot of ex lease cars with very little mileage on. I had to travel a bit as they are not local to me, but it was worth it.

I'd find a link but can't be bothered as going to retire for the night now...

Try a car broker, like carfile - they sniff out the best deals for you.

Th Focus is a great car and a good buy. Dont buy the petrol if you will be doing reasonable mileage as they are worth less than the diesel models which are superb. Be aware that the new Focus hits the dealers this year so if it were me I would hang on a while if I could as the values will plummet around that time as dealers try to shift stock. An example of this is a friend just bought an Astra from a dealer and bought the old shape and managed to get 6K off the price.... Thats good value.

  • Problem is the Focus is now so expensive new it is having a slight affect on second hand prices- list is £17,800 for base. I couldn't find a good one that was a year old in my price range of £10k, might have been a bit picky, but just better value elsewhere in the market.

The Focus is being replaced with a new model later this year - might be worthwhile waiting, the second hand prices for the old model are bound to fall when the new model is released.

We have a 1.6 zetec focus at the min and it's utterly rubbish on fuel! But other than that very good cars, not had a single problem in the 2 years we've had it.

Would definately get the 1.6 tdci if i were you though, we've just placed an order for one to replace ours.
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.
