Balance Transfer Question?

Hello :-)
Looking for a bit of advice, my DH has been pre approved for a hsbc credit card. If he applies for it will he be able to transfer his hsbc overdraft to it as a balance transfer?
Not sure how the balance transfers work, would he be better trying for a non hsbc card or should we ring habc and ask them. Don't want to waste a credit check if it won't be possible
Thanks :-)
Naomi
Happy Wife and Mother :-) DD is 7 bump is due in July and DH is 40.

He will not be able to transfer his overdraft to the card. If he wants to do this he will have to apply for a card like Virgin (or any MBNA card) or the Post Office. They allow money transfers which transfers cash from your credit card to your bank account. Virgin does this for a 4% fee and at 0% for 16 months. I would advise not initiating this until you have the card and do it over the phone with an operator.
