Any stock left over after gravy is made will become the base of a bacon and lentil soup - you can't do that with the remains of cherry coke

But entirely agree with your point; seems a shame to bin all this goodness when there are so many things you can do with the stock/cooking liquor/whatever - as much from a "it tastes good" point of view as a "it saves money" point of view, if not more so!0 -
