Rough idea of cost - double glazing

Hi, my gran needs new windows, does anyone have any idea how much she would be looking at for nine double glazed windows?

Four of these are quite small - maybe 40" square, the other five are bigger windows, maybe 6-8 foot wide by about 5 foot high...

None of them are bay windows, just ordinary flat windows.

Just wondering if anyone could give me a rough guide to how much this is likely to cost - or if you have had double glazing, how much you paid? She is in the East Midlands.

Thanks in advance

FC

If she has neighbours who have double glazing she is best off asking them.

However she should only use a local firm as National firms charge over twice more.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

She does not get on with the neighbours - and we are looking into it on her behalf, as she is 94 and gets rather confused - just wondering what sort of cost it is likely to be (only a very rough guideline, so we know if its likely to be feasible for her)

Depends a lot on the style, how many openings, etc etc etc.
I recently had 6 smallish windows and a set of french doors for about £3500.
The 5 big windows will obviously put the price up, could be anywhere in the £3500-£6000 range at a real guess.

Have you looked into the possibilities of a grant? I'm sure some LAs give grants for double glazing and I would think at her age there may be grants from elsewhere. Try contacting age concern who may be able to advise on whats available.

As the other poster has said, choose a local independant rather than a large national firm (Everest wanted £12500 for my windows with 40% off!)
