Low energy Halogen light bulbs
Comments

Just been to my local Netto and I saw Philips energy saving bulbs at rock bottom prices. I bought 2 x 11W (60W output) at 47p each and 3 x 18W (100W output) for 49p each.
Never seen them as cheap as that anywhere else. This was the Netto in Acton, West London.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Much as I'd like a lighting fitting which takes the low energy bulbs on

the light fittings sold come with standard bulbs. The low energy GU10's are longer, don't come with a decorative exterior and look ugly when used in place of standard bulbs.0 -
I have some of the megaman gu10's they do protrude out a bit more and the light has a slight clinical look (blue tinge) but you do get sued to it and it doesnt protrude out too much.0

My flat is full of ruddy halogen bulbs (in every single room except the bathroom) and they are all GU10s too. Sorry if I appear thick but if I bought some of the low-energy ones would they still fit in my normal lights - I don't think my landlord would like me to change the fittings you see.
I have to keep replacing the halogen ones as they pop - more so than the old-fashioned bulbs.0 -
Someone told me about this site yesterday www.ecotopia.co.uk as I was looking for green secret santa gifts and they have everything including bulbs!

These are just some of the halogen equivalents but they have loads of other bulbs as well and you can buy in bulk.0 -
energybulbs... you are not allowed to advertise your site on here i'm afraid...0

Just a quick question, how comes if we are honest about who we are and gave relevant information concerning a members question in which they referenced us. How comes ours is not a legitimate post but if as per quite a few posts we registered and say we bought these bulbs and their great from xxxx is fine. I understand that pure advertising is to be frowned on but advice reference the problem the person had and a solution to it surely is what the forum is about. We gave an honest answer to the question posed.0

Because you are benefiting commercially from posting. There's nothing stopping you from giving advice without revealing details about your company.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Whatever the problems with alleged advertising, I repeat: low energy light bulbs can be found wherever, but designer light fittings are NOT designed for them - or at least not at an affordable price. When will designers recognise that we WANT to go low energy?
As an example, look at florescent. Seen any good light fittings for those? They're rubbish!0
